Travel and Car Rental
To help with your trip to Puerto Rico, we’ve put together a page with everything you need to know about travel for our wedding. We’re so excited that you’ll be joining us to celebrate, and we can’t wait to welcome you to the island!
What Airport Should I Travel Into?
You’ve got two options: Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan or Rafael Hernández International Airport (BQN) in Aguadilla. SJU usually has cheaper fares, more airlines, and plenty of direct flights—but it’s a 2.5-hour drive to Aguada, plus longer security lines.
Aguada is just a short drive away from BQN, making it more convenient once you land, though flights are fewer and can cost more. No matter which airport you choose, you’ll want to rent a car to get around comfortably.
Is a Rental Car Neccessary?
Uber works well in San Juan, but it’s almost nonexistent on the west side of the island. To make sure you can get to the wedding events, your accommodations, and still explore the beautiful west, renting a car is the way to go.
What Rental Car Options are Available?
Both Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan and Rafael Hernández International Airport (BQN) in Aguadilla have major rental companies on-site, including Enterprise, Hertz, Budget, and Avis. We highly recommend reserving in advance due to availability of rental cars in the region.
Is Carpooling an Option?
If you’d like to carpool with other wedding guests, reach out to Anthony Messineo or Krystal Nieves who can help connect you with other travelers.
